Yoder-Bontrager Insurance was started by Alvin Yoder in 1957. Before he started writing insurance policies, Alvin owned a bookstore and paint depot with several of his brothers. A committed Mennonite, he founded the agency on the belief that insurance and financial services can be integrated with faith and stewardship. That same spirit continues to animate Yoder-Bontrager Insurance to this day.
In 1978 Yoder-Bontrager insurance became the 4th insurance agency in Ohio to sign up with Erie Insurance. Erie Insurance is known for excellence and continues to be a major insurer in the Eastern United States and Great Lakes Region.
Yoder-Bontrager Insurance has a longstanding relationship with Everence (formerly Mennonite Mutual Aid and Mennonite Financials). Everence is a Christian based organization that focuses on integrating finances with faith through banking, insurance, and asset management.
Agents at Yoder-Bontrager Insurance are lifelong members of the Hartville community and surrounding area. We are committed to forging strong relationships with our local community and are on a first name basis with most of our clients. We do not work for an insurance company; we work for you.
We believe strongly in service. Everything we do, from your initial policy assessment to being available when you need us, is geared towards providing our customers with the highest level of attentive, personal service. Yes, there is a person who answers the phone when you call! If you think that having an insurance agency that actually cares enough to listen and understand their customers is a good thing, then Yoder-Bontrager Insurance is the agency for you.
While we don’t wear our faith on our sleeve, we also don’t shy away from our deep dedication to social responsibility and helping others. We have a long history of working with churches and non-traditional ministries to protect their communities and safeguard what they’ve built.
